1515 Restaurant

May12

Easter brunch was our first time eating at 1515 and it was spectacular. We had shrimp and grits, mushroom tart, and soup for the apps. Mains were steak and egg and the pork benedict. Desserts were creme brulee two ways, chocolate cake and doughnuts. Everything was delicious and we can’t wait to try dinner! Also, I thought their prices were comparable to other restaurants. I don’t know if everyone who complains is just used to the $10 plate at chili’s or what. Quality. Not quantity.

Session Kitchen (Closed)

April4

I’m a huge fan of brunch places at which I can make reservations. I’ve been wanting to try Session since its opening. Their menu always looked funky and tasty.

I made reservations one Sunday but didn’t even need them! This place was completely empty. I am totally fine with this. My friend pointed out that it is hard to tell if it’s open unless people are sitting out on the patio. Bonus for me. I also feel like people are just lemmings when it comes to brunch especially. Apparently waiting an hour someplace is totally worth it. No thanks!

Session, first of all, is gorgeous inside. It is such a fun and beautiful space. Second of all, the drinks were amazing. Every cocktail I had was delicious, the last being the best. The I’ll Just Have A Salad was the winner. Also, the staff was very nice and accommodating.

The food. SO GOOD. The portions were hearty for sure. I got the smoked salmon hash and my husband got the green chili frito hash. Both were amazing.

I finished up brunch with dessert, because that’s what I do. I got the cronuts which were not fantastic. They were gloppy and would likely make the creator and trademark-er of the name kill himself.

I would and absolutely plan on going back.

If the material on the heels of your shoes is peeling off…

throw them out. They’re cheap. If they’re not cheap, you don’t deserve to own them anymore anyway.

When purchasing clothes…

April4

ALWAYS look at your entire backside. If you’re buying shirts, try to avoid ones that may show or accentuate back fat. If you’re buying pants, make sure they’re not too tight in the waist (muffin), butt (hungry?) or legs (folds). Likewise, make sure said items aren’t too big giving you zero shape.

Central Bar and Bistro (Closed)

February20

This place was great. We went here for brunch. It was totally not packed and we could make reservations. Standing in line for brunch is for amateurs.

Everything was delicious, but the pear rosemary mimosa was the most amazing beverage.

I’d definitely go back.

Fuel

February20

So I have to preface this write up with that we went on Valentine’s day, which was a terrible idea. Valentine’s day is just a terrible day to do anything but cook and get drunk at home imo.

With that said, Joseph came to get me at 5:30 or so for our reservations at 6:30. We wanted to happy hour and then eat. So Fuel has ReFuel which is their happy hour spot. We walk in, because you can, and it’s closed. No signage or anything. According to the web site, it’s open at 5 for happy hour. Alrighty.

We then walked over to Fuel. Both spaces btw are very cool and it’s so great that they’re doing so much work in the RiNo area etc. We let the hostess know that we had a reservation but we were going to happy hour first, she said she could seat us or we could hang out at the bar. So since happy hour seems more legit whilst sitting at a bar that’s where we headed. We were given all the full dinner/drink menus. When we asked if there were happy hour menus, we were informed that there was no happy hour that day. That might have been nice to know ahead of time. We could have gone to the Ginn Mill for $2 happy hour and tied one on for like $20!

So I’m chippy because now we’re eating at like 5:30 with all the blue hairs. No offense. The web site also said there would be Valentine’s day specials, which we were also informed wasn’t happening. GAH.

We ordered a bottle of wine and listened to the painful conversations around us until the food came. Everything was delicious. The veggies totally overshadowed all the meat. They were amazing.

I’d like to try ReFuel when it’s open at their convenience. I’ll be chippy about this for a bit. There are too many other amazing restaurants to be so annoyed with one to try it again.

Willow again, now Daisy.

Willow, who was a foster of ours for like 2days sadly came back due to troubles at home shall we say. She’s gotten fat and LOVES to get on furniture, but she’s a very sweet girl.
